IMG_0845My name is Lauren Williams and I am a Kinesiology- Health & Fitness major at Texas Christian University. I was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX and despite my efforts to leave, I really never did because I just love this place too much. My family jokes that I define failure to launch, but really I just believe in living life according to what makes you happy and I feel the happiest in this place. My lifestyle consists of riding and showing my horse, running, working out, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

The beginning of my journey…
I was not born with this burning love for health and fitness. It is something that developed inside of me through my experiences. My freshman year of high school I began to gain weight and was teased about this, but I just let it go in one ear and out the other. I guess my mom finally got tired of me sitting around eating junk food though so she drug me to 24 hour fitness to begin personal training. I piddled in and out of there and eventually quit because I can be brutally stubborn and I did not want to go. AScreen shot 2014-09-20 at 5.15.54 PMbout 6 months later something changed, what that was I am not sure, but whatever it was it was within. I drove myself to 24 hour fitness looking a bit pudgier than before and my personal trainer knew when I walked in that I was ready to make a change.

This point was such a pivotal point of my life. I think I lucked out with one of the most knowledgeable and talented trainers there is, and with his guidance my life began to change drastically. His knowledge taught me about the benefits of exercise and alarmed me with information about the food I was eating ( such as when he told me he could “smell Qdoba on my sweat” hours after I had eaten that…ew!!). Once I began to embrace the path to health and wellness, it truly changed me as a person. I became so much happier and more confident, more energetic and more driven; fitness had won my heart and soul and I truly became a better person because of it.

Where I am now…
The magnitude of how strongly my life was changed by becoming “well” is what drives me to inspire and help other people today along10173107_10201869794016260_2009220213_o their journey of health and fitness. I know that becoming fit is not easy and I would never sit here trying to say that it is, but it is possible and it is worth it. My goal is to inspire people and to aid people in their journey to wellness. I want to change others lives for the better just as my life was transformed. So don’t wait until tomorrow, let’s start making changes today.
